salsa

Without "son", there would be no "salsa". Issac Delgado is one of the greatest salseros of all time. A good "salsero" (salsa singer) carries the root of "son" deep in their heart.

In January 2024, Issac Delgado releases the new single?only once?for his own label, Pulmoon Records, which will be distributed by Kobalt/AWAL on all digital platforms. His new album is scheduled for Mayo. A major European tour is planned from May to November 2024.

Vocalist, bandleader, and composer Issac Delgado has been on the cutting edge of Cuban popular dance music for more than four decades. For his new project, CON TUMBAO, Delgado is calling on some of the best Latin music players, composers, and arrangers in the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Drawing on the group's varied musical accents, diverse backgrounds, and rich artistic experiences, Delgado is setting out to reimagine his old hits, explore the Great Latin American Songbook, and re-energize Afro-Cuban music up from the roots, from Son, Bolero, and Rumba to Latin Jazz.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Delgado was part of several influential musical groups, notably the Orquesta de Pacho Alonso and the powerful N.G. La Banda, and also a featured soloist in the famous Tropicana Cabaret shows. N.G. La Banda's signature sound (the name stands for New Generation La Banda) combined traditional Afro-Cuban styles with a jazz sensibility resulting in a modern variant of son known as "timba."  Delgado was part of the group for just three years, but during that time, he was the voice of three of the band's most successful recordings.

Throughout his career, Delgado has collaborated with leading artists in the Cuban and international music scene including Celia Cruz, Sergio George, Adalberto Álvarez, Cachao, Ana Belén, Cheo Feliciano, Víctor Manuel, Gilberto Santa Rosa, José Alberto "El Canario", La India, Freddy Cole, Pedrito Martínez, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Alexander Abreu, Descemer Bueno, Gente de Zona, Pablo Milanés, Silvio Rodríguez and Los Van Van.

Delgado has earned several Grammy® and Latin Grammy® nominations for his albums, performances, and compositions throughout his career. Then in 2021, he won a Latin Grammy® for Best Tropical Album: Traditional for Cha Cha Cha: Homenaje a Lo Tradicional ? which he conceived and wrote in collaboration with Alain Pérez and the legendary Orquesta Aragón.
